91 Points & 4.5 Stars - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"It's splendidly fruited and fragrant on the nose, showing dark plum, blueberry, rich floral and hazelnut notes, leading to a fruit-expressive palate that's succulent and silky. Immediately appealing with bright fruit flavours, making it delightfully drinkable. At its best: now to 2029" Sam Kim

This Angove Vineyard Select Shiraz is a real showstopper! Wine Orbit's Sam Kim awarded it a stellar 91 points and 4.5 stars, praising its "splendidly fruited and fragrant" aromas and "succulent and silky" palate. We couldn't agree more.

This McLaren Vale Shiraz is a deep, intense purple in the glass, with captivating aromas of cherries, ripe raspberry, subtle spice, and vanilla. On the palate, it's a symphony of flavors – juicy dark plum and blueberry mingle with hints of hazelnut and rich floral notes. The American oak aging adds a touch of toasty complexity, while the silky smooth tannins and bright acidity make it incredibly drinkable. This wine is drinking beautifully now but will also cellar gracefully until 2029, according to Sam Kim.

The grapes for this wine were carefully sourced from a variety of low-intervention vineyards across McLaren Vale, showcasing the diversity and richness of this renowned region. Despite the challenging vintage, with hailstorms and soaring temperatures, the winemakers at Angove have crafted a truly exceptional Shiraz. They utilized traditional techniques, including fermentation with wild yeasts in 70-year-old concrete vats and maturation in American oak, to create a wine that is both complex and approachable.

Pair it with: Grilled lamb chops, a hearty beef stew, or a cheeseboard with aged cheddar.
