"Plump, ripe, fresh, fruity and varietal with aromas and flavours of red and dark red cherries, moments of plum and dark strawberry and spices of oak and toasty wood. On the palate - dry with flavours of fruits that reflect the nose and the variety with red stone fruits and plum then a savoury dried herb layer. Moderate tannins and medium+ acidity. Coming into balance in time to drink from mid 2022 through 2026."

Family owned and operated for three generations, Brightwater Gravels is a boutique Nelson winery with a focus on producing balanced, elegant and food friendly wines. Winemaker Trudy Sheild, formerly of Waimea Estates producing complex and delicious wines. Nestled between the Wai-iti and Wairoa rivers in Brightwater, Nelson, the vines thrive in free draining alluvial soils of gravel and sandy loam.

Nelson is NZ’s dark horse wine region and the hot value tip for the next decade for anyone who likes wine from Marlborough. As Lisa Perotti-Brown, of Wine Advocate, tweeted: “Tho located in the shadow of Marlborough, the wines r anything but!”. In fact the South Island region consistently wins more awards than any other NZ wine region per hectare of vines planted.

This Pinot is packed full of black fruit aromas, toasty oak and spices. Lengthy on the palate with grippy tannin and a savoury, yet ripe mouthfeel.
