92 Points & Rated Premium - Cameron Douglas (2020 vintage)
"If you let the wine rest in glass for just a couple of minutes then the bouquet becomes stronger with aromas of white and yellow apricot, apple and peach then spices and flowers. Weighty, creamy textured, varietal, fruity and dry. Flavours of fragrant Asian spices and apricots then tree fruits and a whisper of citrus begin to show. Medium acidity is accentuated by the leesy phenolic texture also adding length and complexity. Well made, balanced, youthful. Best drinking from 2021 through 2023+."

4.5 Stars Yvonne Lorkin (2020 Vintage)
"Well butter my crust and call me crazy if this isnt just the freshest, friskiest, zestiest viognier I’ve seen in aeons. Nelson has again proved that it’s an aristocrat where producing aromatic wines is concerned. Scented with classic apricot, jasmine and honeysuckle while in the mouth it does a devastatingly delicious job of harnessing that elusive acidity and saddling up this tropical beast so that it canters off down your cake hole in powerful fashion. Enjoy with crispy pork schnitzels and spiced apple sauce."

If you like your whites with a bit of richness, body and a touch of oppulence. Viognier could be for you, also often fab with a bit of age on it. This delicious offering from Middle Earth, Nelson is a fine example. Aromas of orchard fruits. On the pallet rounded, soft and packed full of tropical fruit flavour. Mmmm Mmmm

Winery description
"Free-run and pressing juices were cold settled separately, however once clarified the pressings were such nectar that they were recombined with the mother juice. Twenty percent of the recombined juice was peeled off to a well -seasoned barrel for ferment and the remainder racked to tank. Both the barrel and tank were inoculated with a yeast strain from Viognier’s ancestral home - the Rhône. It was chosen for its capacity to produce fruit forward wines with suppleness and volume on the palate. The tank ferment was arrested with some surplus residual sugar thanking into account the dry barrel portion we would be adding back at blending. It was then promptly racked of gross yeast lees and allowed to rest on fine lees before blending of the two components in. Expect vibrancy, balance and concentration from our 2021 wines!

Pale Straw in colour and medium to full-bodied this Viognier has typical aromas of apricot and orange blossom, with just a hint of clean white smoke. The wine is both flavoursome and textural, the essence of fruit building and lingering on the palate. This fleshy wine is afforded an elegance thanks to bright acidity and a phenolic skeleton together balancing the residual sugar and creating a lingering finish. Try with a Moroccan dish of lamb shanks and dried apricots or as an aperitif with walnut crackers, a ripe blue cheese and quince paste."
