Belles Lettres (Cotes du Rhone) 2021 Rouge AOP

The southern Rhône has always been a source of inspiration for Boutinot. Belles Lettres is a category of writing in French, originally meaning beautiful or fine writing. Winemaker Eric Monnin likens it to the way he makes his wines; crafting something of pure beauty. A writer of Belles Lettres is a 'belletrist’.

Soft, smooth and appealingly fruity; good Côtes du Rhône should be a crowd-pleaser. This is full-flavoured and rich with a hint of savoury spice on the finish, typical of well-sunned Grenache which dominates the blend.

Really easy drinking, this wine can be enjoyed on its own. It's a great accompaniment to a summer BBQ: sausages, grilled halloumi, and burgers.

Belles Lettres (Cotes du Rhone) 2021 Villages Rouge AOP

Boutinot select from plots in the best villages in the Côtes du Rhône for our assemblage. Vineyards are mostly chalky-clay soil with a heavy overlay of rounded limestone pebbles (galets roulés). Following a fifteen-day cuvaison, with délestage to gently extract colour and flavour, Grenache Noir is blended with Syrah and matured without oak.

75% Granache & 25% Syrah. This Côtes du Rhône Villages is concentrated and full flavoured with bramble fruit flavours from the Grenache Noir and a savoury spice on the finish.

The perfect accompaniment to comfort foods like macaroni and cheese, or fish and chips. This wine would really shine alongside a burger (be it beef or vegetarian) with blue cheese and triple-cooked chips.

Thorn Clarke (Barossa) 2021 Shotfire Shiraz

93 POINTS & 5 STARS - Sam Kim Wine Orbit

When the Clarke forbears discovered gold in 1870 at the Lady Alice mine in the Barossa goldfields, so began a family dynasty intrigued by geology. A fine legacy that is reflected today in the terroir of our vineyards. The Shotfire range immortilises the Shotfirer’s hazardous job of setting and lighting the charges in the mines

The 2019 vintage in the Barossa can be summed up with two key points; low yields and high quality. Winter in 2018 was extremely dry and with high winds, frost and rain at flowering the Thorn-Clarke vineyards had a lot to contend with. As a result the vines had a very small amount of bunches and small amount of berries per bunch. Low yield though led to concentration of varietal characters in the bunches and the berries produced this year were intense in fragrance, flavour and colour. Best of all they have an amazing balance. Truly 2019 will sit alongside the greatest vintages the Barossa has seen this century.
