Te Mata Estate (Hawkes Bay) 2023 Syrah

Winery note

"Dark and brooding in the glass, Estate Syrah ’21 is ink-black with a vivid magenta edge. The lifted aromatics of concentrated raspberry and crushed violets quickly become layer upon layer of exotic spices, fruit cake, pancetta, vanilla, and cocoa running the length of this wine’s luscious palate. Dense, saturated, ripe, and enticing in its detail – Estate Syrah ’21 delivers on every dimension."

The Guild of Fanatics (South Australia) 2023 Shiraz

Double Gold - China Wine and Spirits Awards (previous vintage)
Double Gold - Berlin Wine Awards (previous vintage)
4.5 stars 90 points Sam Kim (previous vintage)

One of our all time top selling hall-of-famer Aussie Shiraz deals. The Guild of Fermentation Fantatics is a celebration of the winemaker. This wine is superb quality and outrgeous value for money.
“My shiraz displays plenty of colour and deep ripe fruit; I didn’t use too much oak but there’s enough there to add great structure. I made it to be enjoyed young and find it goes particularly well with charcoal grilled sirloin”  Brett Duffin, winemaker.

Thorn Clarke (Barossa) 2021 Shotfire Shiraz

93 POINTS & 5 STARS - Sam Kim Wine Orbit

When the Clarke forbears discovered gold in 1870 at the Lady Alice mine in the Barossa goldfields, so began a family dynasty intrigued by geology. A fine legacy that is reflected today in the terroir of our vineyards. The Shotfire range immortilises the Shotfirer’s hazardous job of setting and lighting the charges in the mines

The 2019 vintage in the Barossa can be summed up with two key points; low yields and high quality. Winter in 2018 was extremely dry and with high winds, frost and rain at flowering the Thorn-Clarke vineyards had a lot to contend with. As a result the vines had a very small amount of bunches and small amount of berries per bunch. Low yield though led to concentration of varietal characters in the bunches and the berries produced this year were intense in fragrance, flavour and colour. Best of all they have an amazing balance. Truly 2019 will sit alongside the greatest vintages the Barossa has seen this century.
